Agency Overview

SNAP stands for Spay Neuter Assistance Program, which is exactly what we do. We assist anyone who needs financial assistance to spay or neuter a pet.  Reducing pet overpopulation is the single most effective way to reduce euthanasia in our community’s animal shelters.

An all-volunteer organization, SNAP was formed in 2000.  Since then, we have helped finance over 23,000 spay/neuter surgeries.

Using a network of veterinarians throughout southwest Missouri, we are able to procure surgery services at the lowest possible cost.  Since we are an all-volunteer organization, we have no salary expenses and almost no overhead.

We find pet owners who need our services through outreach efforts.  We also work with pet owners who have acquired large numbers of pets from strays or dumped animals.  We help young families just starting out, as well as senior citizens.  Pet owners who have used our program talk with their neighbors to encourage, and in many cases, pay for other pets who need to be fixed.
