Discovery Garden Montessori School (DGMS) Give Ozarks Goals for 2016

1) Expand and strengthen the only Montessori school in Springfield Missouri

2) Fund as many scholarships as possible for families who need assistance to take advantage of this unique educational experience

When considering charitable options there are many causes to consider.  Feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless or expanding the creative arts in Springfield.  Why should you donate to a school with so many other causes to support?

The answer to this question is baked into the goal of this fundraiser.   DGMS is the only Montessori School in Springfield and….

Montessori Education is vitally important for the Springfield community

  • Traditional education does not provide a fertile ground for young creative minds
  • Montessori not only an educational system  – the Three “R”s and STEM – it also develops creative thinking and independence in every facet of the person’s life
  • Montessori educated individuals are an asset to their community
  • DGMS offers dynamic young families who want a Montessori education for their children the opportunity to stay in Springfield

Springfield NEEDS people that are creative, intellectually curious and self-directed

Springfield only has one Montessori School: Discovery Garden. We are asking you to help us to expand in order to serve all those who want to provide a fertile ground for their child’s minds.  Tomorrow’s inventors and visionaries can stay right here in Springfield.  The core traditional values of Springfield joined with the creative opportunity of a Montessori education is a powerful combination that is just beginning to be explored.

The Montessori method emphasizes independent learning, mixed-age classrooms and mutual teaching. Montessori children learn to be self-directed and self-starters.  DGMS nurtures, inspires and supports each child’s development within our diverse and welcoming community.  The foundations of our program are strong academics, leadership, self-discipline, responsibility, independence, and a child’s innate love of learning.

Discovery Garden Montessori School offers a proven Montessori education for children 16 months through 4rd grade.  DGMS is an independent, nonprofit, and non-sectarian school and a full member of the American Montessori Society.
