Adult Education & Literacy Scholarships

Project of
The OTC Foundation

OTC’s Adult Education and Literacy program allows individuals to take the next step to a brighter future, free of charge. Due to 2020 state funding cuts, the High School Equivalency Exam (HSE) $100 fee is no longer funded. In order to continue this needed program free of charge to all individuals, we need YOUR help.

Project Overview

Education creates opportunity.

Josh dropped out of school in 10th grade and bounced from job to job, but the urge to have a career he could be proud of was strong. He had a family to support and wanted the best possible life for them.

For Josh, the AEL Program at OTC helped to open doors he did not think were possible. He credits the instructors and volunteers of the AEL program for equipping him with the necessary tools and confidence to take the next steps in his education.

"Enrolling in the AEL Program enabled me to successfully prepare and pass the High School Equivalency Test," stated Josh. "I now have a rewarding career in maintenance at a manufacturing plant. Two years ago, I would not have thought this job would be a reality."

The Adult Education & Literacy program at OTC is a free resource to give anyone the chance to expand their education and career opportunities. Due to state funding limitations in 2020, the coverage of the HSE exam fees were cut from the budget. This $100 scholarship enables individuals of all economic levels to pursue and complete their HSE test. This $100 fee should not stand in the way of a brighter future for an individual.

What is a high school equivalency? A high school equivalency or HSE is a recognized alternative to a high school diploma.

We need YOUR help. The OTC Foundation is committed to bridging the gap to provide schoolarships for the HSE test to all individuals who pursue the program. Your donation will impact the future of the community, helping to break the cycle of poverty.
