Project Overview

After 24 years working in community development, we have learned a thing or two about what works (and what doesn't!) when serving the under-resourced.

One lesson that remains constant whether we are working in Ethiopia, Nepal, or South Dakota - is that when we resource local volunteers in concert with the excellent organizations already at work in their home communities - we can make meaningful progress

On May 7, 2016 Convoy of Hope coordinated a large-scale community outreach event at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds. In coordination with hundreds of community partners, this event mobilized 2,600 volunteers to provide more than 8,000 Guests of Honor with a poverty-free day.  Joy abounded as some families served - and others received - services, groceries, new shoes and much, much more.

The day was truly magical, but the real transformation occurred in the following weeks and months when our guests began to benefit from the connections made.  There are many families in our community who are more secure today than they were before we met them on May 7.  Given this fact, you can see why we're eager to provide another day of opportunity for those who could use a little help.

Would you consider partnering with us to move the needle on poverty in our own backyard with a pledge of support for our next community event scheduled to take place on June 2, 2018?
