Empowering the Little Dreamers

Every week we work with the children at the Women's Crisis Center on fun learning activities while their moms go through group counseling. We are raising money to help them build a playground so they have a safe place to play.

Project Overview

Our members engage in multiple service projects for the children and families of Taney County.

Women's Crisis Center Support: This project provides birthday parties and activities for children who are living at the Women's Crisis Center of Taney County, an organization that provides care to women and children who are experiencing domestic violence/abuse. In addition, weekly Kid Therapy, a two-hour program gives the kids a chance to have a good time with special activities while moms attend counseling. This year, we are working on a new playground at their facility for the kids to play outdoors in a safe enviroment.

Prom Dress: This project provides new or gently worn prom dresses and accessories to high school girls who might not otherwise have an opportunity to enjoy their proms. Girls are identified by high school counselors and are allowed to choose dresses at designated times.

Tender Critters: This project provides new stuffed animals for children who are brought to the emergency room and/or admitted to Cox Hospital in Branson.

Homework Helpers: This project provides homework help once a week throughout the year to children living at two extended-stay motels in our area.  Snacks and a simple activity are also provided for the children.

School Supplies: This project provides supplemental school supplies to elementary schools in January or February for distribution to students on an as-needed basis.

The Heart of the Arts: This project secures art and craft supplies and provides support to adults with developmental disabilities in the “Creative Day” program at Taney County’s Resource for the Developmentally Disabled. It includes securing & delivering requested supplies and providing volunteer service hours to assist art projects & special events.

Santa's Gift House: This project provides an opportunity for children to choose handcrafted gift items and experience the joy of giving to their loved ones.  Children also get photos with Santa, a book and a time for hot cocoa and crafting.

College Scholarships:  This project provides a scholarship to a senior in all 4 Taney county public high schools.

ScholarCare: This project provides a renewable 4-year scholarship in addition to monthly letters of encouragement and care packages.  Typically the recipient is a first generation college attendee.

Learners Today-Leaders Tomorrow:  This project provides materials and volunteer support to enhance science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) studies at Mark Twain Elementary School
