Project Overview

It is common these days to see young people glued to an electronic device, oblivious to activities going on around them. What happened to children spending countless hours exploring the outdoors?

One of the fundamental goals of the Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation (MCHF) is providing opportunities for youth to learn various outdoor skills and to become comfortable outdoors and adopt outdoor recreation as a way of life. To this end, MCHF has provided funding for a plethora of events for kids and teens since 1997. A partial list of such events includes:

  • Nature day camps and overnight camps,
  • Turkey, waterfowl, game bird, and deer hunts with mentors,
  • Hunting clinics,
  • Fishing days at state conservation areas and trout parks,
  • Fishing clinics,
  • Missouri National Archery in the Schools Program,
  • Archery equipment for city and county park programs,
  • Outdoor fun days for families,
  • Outdoor education programs through participating schools, and
  • Discover Nature schools programming.

“Thanks for teaching me about hunting. I can’t wait to use all my new skills!” – Stephani, new hunter.

Want to help make sure today's kids become tomorrow's conservationists and outdoorsmen? Your $50 gift helps provide supplies for a hunting or fishing clinic; a $75 gift helps provide archery equipment for city programs; a $100 gift helps purchase outdoor gear for outdoor skills programs at school; a $200 gift will fund a young person's week at nature camp.

“I loved trying the atlatl, eating wild game, and kayaking. I had a lot of fun and I learned a lot.” – Laura, nature camper

Many of these projects are staffed by Missouri Department of Conservation employees, conservation/outdoors organizations, and volunteers. Interested in volunteering? Let us know - https://mochf.org/volunteers/.

About Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation

The Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation (MCHF) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1997 to advance conservation and appreciation of Missouri’s natural resources, including fish, forest, and wildlife. We work with donors and other conservation partners to financially support the mission and priorities of the Missouri Department of Conservation at the statewide, national, and international level.

This means we invest in everything from migratory bird programs to youth hunting and fishing events to endangered species habitat protection.  We support the state’s nature centers, as well as hiking and wildlife viewing activities – anything that allows Missourians to enjoy the outdoors in urban or rural areas.

MCHF is governed by a volunteer board of directors comprised of conservation, community, and business leaders.  We have raised and invested more than $21 million in conservation projects large and small. Help us protect Missouri’s conservation legacy!
