Project Overview
The Doula Foundation provides trauma-informed care and case management for newborns, moms, and families in need that are at-risk for COIVD-19, lack of prenatal care, extreme trauma, domestic violence, homelessness, single-parent homes, and mental health concerns.
The Doula Foundation is responding to a 300% increase in requests from at-risk families in need that have lost their job, housing, limited appointment availability, changes in medical care, and extreme mental health concerns.
DF responded quickly to the pandemic by providing virtual and online programs, services, classes, resources and 24-hour hotline to reduce trauma, stress, anxiety, avoid the emergency room and NICU with low birth-weight and preterm deliveries and reduce the burden on hospitals and medical team during COVID-19.
DF programs specialize in a strength-based, family-centered, and culturally sensitive approach to online and virtual education and support which helps new parents build confidence, reduce stress and cortisol levels, increase success in breastfeeding, and provide tools and resources for newborns and moms in need during this traumatic time while preventing long-term health issues and concerns for mom and baby.
