Help Grow the DBO!

Super Dooper Diaper Dude saves the day! Mom arrives at the daycare center with only three diapers; eight diapers are required daily. If her baby cannot stay, mom fears losing her daycare spot, her job and her paycheck. Also, her baby will miss out on receiving early childhood education.

Project Overview

DBO needs another HERO to join our team.

YOUR donation can make this happen!

Last year, during the 2020 Pandemic, DBO was staffed with 1.5 paid employees (DBO Heroes) and over 1.1 million diapers were distributed! Imagine what we can do with just one more DBO Hero!!

This new part-time employee will work directly with the Programs Director, Community Engagement Director and our volunteer Executive Director. Together, the DBO Heroes will support the mission of the Diaper Bank of the Ozarks, and save the day by keeping babies healthy and happy.

YOUR donation WILL make a difference:

$15=one hour of pay=600 diapers distributed=12 healthy and happy babies

$60=four hours of pay=2,400 diapers distributed=48 healthy and happy babies

$300=a week of pay=12,000 diapers distributed=240 healthy and happy babies

$15,600=a year's pay=624,00 diapers distributed=12,480 healthy and happy babies

About Diaper Bank of the Ozarks

Mission Statement: Keeping babies healthy and happy by distributing diapers to partner agencies serving families in need throughout the Ozarks.

Vision Statement: As advocates for healthy babies, we strive to eliminate diaper poverty with regional collaboration throughout the Ozarks while raising awareness about the impact of diaper insecurity.

The Diaper Bank of the Ozarks (DBO) is mission focused and, since opening in late 2012, has distributed over 5.5 million diapers.  Our programs will distribute over 1.2 million diapers during 2021 through Partner Agencies.

 "Diaper Need"

1 in 3 families with young children struggle to afford diapers for their babies.  About 48% of parents increase the time between diaper changes to stretch their limited resources, but this can lead to serious health problems for both babies and parents.  Babies may need hospitalization from severe urinary tract or staph infections. For Parents depression and financial stress are increased. Sadly, this can result in situations of child abuse.  Receiving a supplemental monthly supply of diapers allows the family to purchase other basic needs such as food and clothing or paying the rent.

"Diaper Need" is not only experienced by families in generational poverty.  It is seen with single parents (both moms and dads), grandparents raising grandchildren on a fixed income, foster families, families facing a sudden large expense (often medical), unexpected unemployment and chronic underemployment.

DBO Programs:

Regional Disposable Diaper Distribution.

The Diaper Bank of the Ozarks partners with over 40 agencies serving children in Greene County and 60 additional counties across the Ozarks, providing their diaper needs.  In many cases this eliminates a budget line item, allowing them to purchase other much needed items.  Agencies in Greene County include Crosslines, Harmony House, Lifehouse Crisis Maternity Home, Doula Foundation, and Pregnancy Care Center.

Diapers for Daycare Program.

Daycare providers require an adequate supply of diapers each day to allow a child to attend their childcare facility. For many families, this is not an easy task. DBO stands beside the parents by providing diapers to the Daycare so that babies may remain in their care. If childcare is lost by the parent, they will no longer be able to work or attend job training and they suffer further from the loss of income.

Cloth Diaper Loan Program.

The Diaper Bank of the Ozarks provides education about the care and use of cloth diapers before distributing a cloth diaper kit.  Follow up mentoring is offered while the family is using cloth diapers.
