Help House Those in Need

The effects of COVID have had an effect on many including loss of income and eviction. Together we can help families get back on the path to self-sufficiency. CCSOMO’s Housing and Homeless Prevention Programs work one-on-one with clients to stabilize their housing and give them the tools they need for a brighter future.

Project Overview

About Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri

With our holistic, family strengthening approach, we consider the individual’s total situation in an effort to help them achieve long-term self-sufficiency. Each year thousands of people are helped by one of our many programs and services offered. Established in 2009, we never forget that at our core, we are committed to call to serve others, regardless of their faith, with dignity and respect. Impact of Covid, Our Project, and Contributions to the Community

More people are needing assistance with housing than ever before. The number of calls CCSOMO is receiving in our Housing and Homeless Prevention Program has tripled over the last several months, many seeking help for the first time.  Families and individuals are at risk of losing their housing due to unemployment, underemployment, lack of child care and other circumstance intensified due to the pandemic.

CCSOMO has continued to serve our neighbors in need by incorporating COVID precautions and creating innovative ways to connect with clients in order to address the new and growing needs within our communities. Added staff and faster screening methods have enabled us to serve more clients. However, increased levels of services require additional funding. In order to ensure we can maintain these levels of service, we need your support.

Additionally in fall 2020, CCSOMO opened the Rancho Emergency Shelter and Housing Program to provide a safe haven during the winter months for the increasing number of homeless families. Like our other programs, during their stay at Rancho, the families work with their case managers to obtain permanent housing and financial stability.

Regardless of what circumstance brought a client to CCSOMO, our goal remains the same – to treat everyone with dignity and respect, regardless of faith, and help move them toward self-sufficiency. Your gift not only helps individuals and families remain housed or find a place they can call home, but also equips them with tools for success. Our case managers work with clients to help them identify and overcome systemic issues they face, providing resources including employment assistance, financial counseling, budgeting, parenting classes, and more.

With your help, we can continue Reaching Out, Providing Hope and Changing Lives.
