Stockton Korth Center for Seniors is currently on limited services status due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has caused the center to cut back on our assistance and recreation opportunities. But that has not stopped us from continuing to provide our finest core services with creative solutions. Today, we continue to provide meals for an average of 25 to 50 seniors daily via a drive-through solution and safely distribute ~300 meals each week to home bound seniors. All while cautiously adhering to the current social distancing and hygiene standards to ensure both clients and volunteers are suitably shielded from the virus.
When Korth Center reopens once again, we will cheerfully resume to prepare hot nutritious meals daily for our seniors within our facility. We are ready to open on an incremental basis, allowing customers to be comfortably spaced at the recommended physical distance from one-another. Meals will continue be sent each day to home bound seniors. We plan to eventually provide recreation opportunities for seniors, those being, card games like Rook, Pitch, Pinocle, and Canasta. We will also offer Floor Shuffleboard, Darts, Chess, Bingo, Dominos, Pool, Jig Saw Puzzles and Gardening. The center will be offering exercise programs specifically designated for seniors. We plan to continue extending more outstanding opportunities to volunteer at the center. Upon reopening, there will be volunteer positions such as helping seniors at the front desk as they come into the center, providing drinks for seniors, serving, and bussing tables, working in the kitchen, being a recreation director and instructing exercise programs and others.
The Korth Senior Center objective is to be a one stop location for seniors to receive healthy meals, socialization, recreational activities, exercise, and consulting on services available, help with doing taxes, help in making decisions on Medicare drug programs and supplemental insurance programs. The Center also provides Educational programs on Exercise, Nutrition, Fall Prevention, Healthcare Fraud Prevention, Chronic Disease management and other needed informational programs.
