Project Overview

About Life360 Preschool:

The Life360 Preschool at the Fairbanks is a collaborative effort between the Family Life Community Services organization and the Lighthouse Child and Family Development Center. Life360 Preschool's mission is to provide a safe place to promote the highest quality care and support to all children and families. Life360 Preschool uses student-based learning to encourage the natural love of learning.

In 2020 alone we have supported our community by staying operational throughout the entire COVID-19 pandemic to care for children of essential workers, supplying families with scholarships to assit in tuition costs, and we have continued to implement preschool acitivities like our soccer and garden programs.

We Need Your Help:

Life360 Preschool would like you help to increase the quality of our care and continue working towards eliminating the acheivement gap in our community.

With your donations we plan to implement two complimentary curriculums, Creative Curriculum and Conscious Discipline, to establish the foundations of a well rounded child and ensure kindergarten readiness. We also plan to train our quality staff on implementation, self-evaluation, and student-evaluations. Lastly, with your contribtions Life360 Preschool can introduce local organizations such as the Discovery Center to host educational outreach programs at Life360 Preschool.

Our Financial Goals:

We are looking to raise $9,000 so that we may do four main things:

1) Order and implement Creative Curriculum Kits and Conscious Discipline matierals for all classrooms.

2) Support educational outreach programs and activites at Life360 Preschool.

3) Purchase professional development training materials and conduct trainings for our teachers.

4) Sponsor children through our preschool program to provide relief to families.

How We Can Make a Difference Together:

With your contributions we can better support the children of our community. Standford Center for Opportunity Policy Education provides ample evidence to taking a student-based learning approach to minimize the opportunity gap. With your assistance, Life360 Preschool can better our student-based approach and bring more opportunities to our early learners. Together we can promote kindergarten readiness for all children in our community.

About Life360 Community Services

Life360 Community Services FEEDS, HOUSES, EDUCATES, and EMPOWERS those in need.

Feed

When the physiological need for food goes unmet, impoverished youth struggle to focus on homework, engage in after school activities, or nurture the developmental building blocks that lead to a successful future. To help youth thrive, LCS distributes a five component snack to 12,500+ youth across 20+ rural school districts. In addition to the meal, a daily 15-minute enrichment activity is provided to the classroom to help youth improve literacy skills, cultivate character, and transition to the rest of their day.

The LCS nutrition program did not end when COVID19 caused school closures. Instead LCS continued to fight youth hunger through the distribution of over 1 million nutrition packs to families with youth under the age of 18.

House

Many young adults and low-income families struggle to access and sustain housing that they can afford. Emerging adults exiting the foster care system lack the support system to go out on their own. According to the National Foster Youth Initiative, 20% of youth that age out of care become instantly homeless. Young adults with a juvenile record also struggle to get by. Roughly 44% of youth on the streets spent time in jail or a juvenile justice center. To help these emerging adults get on their feet, Life360 House provides supportive housing to 14 young adults experiencing homelessness through four housing units.

LCS is actively expanding its capacity to meet the housing needs of struggling individuals. Y Gardens, opening in August 2020, is a 41 unit apartment complex built in partnership with Creason Development and Missouri's Housing Development Commission. 8 of the units are designated to youth exiting the foster care system while the remaining units are for individuals from 30% to 80% of the area median income.

Educate

Cradle-to-career educational supports are offered through Life360 Preschool, Camp Fairbanks, Royal Family Kids Camp, Fairbanks Coffee Shop, and Jobs for Life. Through the promotion of kindergarten readiness, closure of the achievement gap, and soft skills development; LCS helps individuals gain the job skills needed to become financially self-sufficient.

Empower

Never do for someone, what they could do for themselves. Life360 Community Services believes in cultivating the natural skills and talents of individuals seeking to improve their daily life. The theme of empowerment runs through all of our programs and services.
