Each year 1 in 15 children are exposed to intimate partner or domestic violence in their home. Nearly all (90%) are witnesses to the violence. Children who live with and witness domestic violence or are victims of abuse themselves are at serious risk for long-term physical and mental health problems.

Your gift of $25 will provide a child at Harmony House with one night of restful sleep, safe within our shelter.

Your donation of $50 will provide a child with one week of hot, nutritious meals. Meals that help build strong bodies and minds and bring a bit of normalcy to their lives.

Your generous donation of $150 lets a kid just be a kid. Your gift will provide a child with one week of shelter and services, including programs and classes designed specifically for our youngest residents.

Your very generous donation puts us $300 closer to helping a family regain their freedom from abuse. Your gift will provide one week of shelter and services for two children.
Domestic violence is one of the most significant traumas for a child, especially a young child. And this trauma can last a lifetime. Children exposed to violence in the home are at increased risk of becoming victims of abuse themselves, have a significant and ever-increasing risk of harm to their physical, emotional and social development, and there is a strong likelihood the cycle of violence will continue in future generations.
Safe shelter away from the abusive adult is a big step in helping children heal from the trauma. But beyond a safe place to sleep, children need tools to help them cope with the trauma. Harmony House provides the tools from mental health counseling, to special programs and classes, to providing routine, to just having someone who will listen, so that children can begin the work of healing. Working with both the child and parent we help build or rebuild an emotionally secure relationship.
In 2020, Harmony House sheltered 276 kids who received safe shelter and trauma-informed services to help them heal. Children who now have the tools to break the cycle in their life and the ability to change our community for the better.
Harmony House services are provided free of charge to survivors of intimate partner or domestic violence. Your gift will help us continue to shelter, feed, and embrace the youngest members of our community who need to feel like they are not alone and that it is okay just to be a kid.
