Project Overview

Celebrating Life. Encouraging Hope.

On Angels' Wings (OAW) seeks to improve the mental health and wellness of families with medically fragile children (regardless of race, ethnicity, class status or orientation) through theraputic photography and grief recovery services.

Our Services

We provie free professional photographs and support for families who have a medically fragile child from maternity to 18 years.  This includes (but is not limited to) genetic disorders, chromosomal defects that put the child at risk, childhood cancer, heart conditions, extended NICU stays and birth loss (from 21 weeks gestation).  We strive to help our families celebrate life and encourage hope for the future.

Areas of Service

Currently, sessions are provided in these Missouri cities and areas:  Springfield, St. Louis, Rolla, Joplin, Kansas City, Cape Girardeau, Poplar Bluff, Sikeston and several other rural towns south of the I-70 corridor.

About On Angels' Wings

Since its inception in July of 2013, On Angels’ Wings (OAW) has provided over 600 families (currently 180-200 families annually) with priceless memories. At time of this grant application, services are predominantly provided in Springfield and St. Louis, but OAW also has photographers in Joplin, Kansas City, Rolla and other rural towns in Southwest Missouri.

In addition to providing photographs, OAW makes it a top priority to help its recipient families cope with the struggles that come with a child that is sick or the loss of a child. The organization sends birthday gifts to recipient children every year, as well as annual loss memorial gifts to families.

Angels Care, a division of On Angels’ Wings, provides a variety of services on the support side of the organization. Our President and Support Coordinator are Advanced Certified Grief Recovery Method Specialists, provided specialized support services for recipients.

Every June, On Angels’ Wings hosts the Making Memories Day carnival that is open to the community, but free for OAW recipients to attend. The event consists of carnival booths by local businesses, live performances, princesses and superheroes, bounce houses and more. The carnival event is kicked off with a recipient gathering and butterfly release in honor of children still fighting and those who have passed. It is important to the OAW board that recipients feel loved and cared for during the entirety of their journey.
